Check changes in competition format Further to suggestions made by various players and tournament organizers regarding the new format of the WCS events, the following changes are being implemented at the Garlando WCS event. 50% qualification matches to be played In order to be qualified for the elimination phase, players must take part in at least half of their matches in the qualification phase. This change was already into effect during the Bonzini WCS event which took place last week. Mixed Doubles - Competition format Before, the Mixed Doubles was played in straight SKO Now there will be a qualification phase in this competition, in order to have a ranking for the elimination phase. This qualification phase will take place from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Sunday. Semi-Pro competitions - Prize money Before, prizes were awarded only to the Top 4 in the Semi-Pro Singles and Doubles competitions. Now there are also prizes for ranks 5-8, as follows : 50 euros in the Singles competition 60 euros in the Doubles competition Which amounts to 440 euros extra prize money guaranteed by the ITSF (the total amount of cash prizes will be 28 095 euros - currently 27 655 euros) Junior Singles - competition schedule Before, the Junior Singles competition took place on the Friday - same as Open Singles, Women's Singles and Senior Singles. However, several Junior players couldn't make it that day because they have to go to school. So, the Junior Singles competition has been moved to the Sunday, at the same time as it was scheduled on the Friday : - 9:30 am : start of qualification - 2:00 pm : start of elimination - 6:00 pm : finals (estimate) Now Junior players cannot take part in the Singles per category competitions (Rookie, Semi-Pro and Pro) nor in the Mixed Doubles competition that take place on that same day. However, those Junior players who are there on the Friday will be able to compete in the Open Singles. They should still fill up their registration form according to their rating (Rookie, Semi Pro or Pro) as they will be able to compete in the Doubles per category competitions.
